The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources is launching their 16th Annual Kids' Fish Art Contest on October 1, 2018. Each fall, Ontario students are invited to enter this free annual contest to showcase their artistic talents while learning about Ontario's native fish and their habitats.
The contest is open to all students who are residents of Ontario, are currently attending elementary or secondary school (or homeschooled) and between the grades of 4-12. Contest closes December 7, 2018. One winner for each category (grades 4-6, grades 7-9, grades 10-12) will be announced March 2019.
In May 2018, the Peel District School Board launched
SharetheSmile.ca, a new opportunity to share the ways Peel staff and students (also known as the #PeelFam) inspires success, confidence and hope in the board and beyond. The board is asking students, staff members, parents and community members for stories from each school and worksite. Through poetry, performance, arts, recipes and other unique designs, the site's
'Creations' section showcases the creativity and talents of students and staff. Check it out today to learn about the incredible stories coming out of Ontario's second-largest school board!
Ontario's future depends on parents, teachers, principals, supervisory officers, educational workers and an electorate that cares about our education system. That's why the Ontario Public School Boards' Association and the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association -- along with L'Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l'Ontario and L'Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques – have come together, through the Ontario Education Services Corporation, to create a website for the 2018 Municipal and School Board Elections that profiles school board trustee candidates in all 72 school boards across the province.
elections.ontarioschooltrustees.org, the public can easily access information about trustee candidates based on where they live and what school board they support. This will help voters make informed choices on Election Day. The project's goal is to help Ontarians understand what trustees do, promote school board elections and encourage new candidates to run. School board elections will be held province-wide simultaneously with Ontario's municipal elections on October 22, 2018.
