Research Priorities

All Canadians have an interest in the success of publicly-funded school systems in their communities. As children and their teachers work together daily, they do so under varying conditions that impact the quality of learning.

Those in the front lines of the education system are trying to create the best possible learning environments, while academics behind the scenes continue to study the conditions necessary for maximum potential learning. Yet still many of the factors that contribute to optimal learning are not well understood.

The CCQEO recognizes the importance of research as the foundation of effective program delivery and has set as a priority the undertaking of meaningful academic and public opinion research into education.

This research will help us answer such vital questions as:

  • What are the conditions or factors that need to exist to maximize the learning experience and overall quality of education?
  • How can we ensure equally accessible, quality education for our students?
  • What are the best approaches for meeting these conditions?
  • Moving forward, what priorities should be set for education programming?
  • How can community and other external partners contribute to the success of quality education delivery? How much should they contribute? What is the impact of their contribution?
  • What are overall impressions of the current and future state of education in Canada? Among the general public? Among students?

Opportunities exist for external partners to work with the Centre in funding, developing, promoting and applying such research.
