CAPSLE Conference 2009

"Law in Education: A Tower or Bridge?", the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education's (CAPSLE's) 2009 Conference will be held from April 26 to 28 at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. This conference will be of interest to all those interested in how the law can affect leaders in education, including educators, lawyers, school board officials, board staff, faculty, students, parents and representatives of professional organizations, academia and government.

Some issues that will be explored include such concepts as:

  • privacy rights
  • freedom of expression
  • special education
  • school board governance
  • occupational heath and safety
  • human rights
  • student rights
  • safety in schools

How each of these affect the ability of various stakeholders to be the best possible educational leaders, for today, and tomorrow will be examined.
