The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board established an Instructional Technology Committee in the fall of 2008. The committee consisted of trustees, Superintendents, Principals, Teachers/Staff, Students and Parents. The committee looked at existing technologies and their use in the classroom with the focus remaining constant; "that technology's role in our education system was one of a tool to enhance the learning of our students through its potential as a teaching tool." On February 25th , the board approved the technology plan and referred it to their Budget committee.

Province needs to tweak bill

This September, nearly 35,000 four and five year olds in Ontario will begin attending school for a full day, five days per week. This is a true milestone in children's education and the centerpiece of the Ontario government's Early Learning Program.

Ontario's YMCAs are in support of full-day learning for kindergarten students. From a child development perspective and an educational viewpoint, it's a good thing.
