The Canadian School Boards Association (CSBA), with OPSBA partnership and support, is collaborating with Dr. Jerome Cranston and the University of Regina’s Centre for Continuing Education to create the Equity and Racial Justice Project professional development modules. This course is designed to encourage and support school boards and trustees as they seek to revise their board policies and leadership practices to respond more effectively to the needs and aspirations of students and families who are Indigenous, Black or otherwise racialized, with a primary focus on raising awareness, engagement and actions at the local and provincial level.
Modules, provided asynchronously in both English and French, include:
- Module 1: Understanding the history of colonization, colonialism, race and racialization on Canadiansociety.
- Module 2: The impacts of colonization, colonialism, race and racialization on the Canadian education system.
- Module 3: Redesigning and rebuildinganequitable and racially-just education system.
