On behalf of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA), I would like to welcome all trustees to the new 2018-2022 term.
At OPSBA, we believe in a strong public education system that is open to all students and governed by democratically elected local school boards. This belief is at the foundation of what we do in support of our member boards and trustees in fulfilling their mandates during their elected term.
As trustees, we have dedicated ourselves to being responsive at the local level to the expectations of parents, guardians and our local communities. Our role is not always easy, but with the passion I know you will bring to your work, I hope it will be a rewarding one.
Students across the province will benefit greatly from your decision to become advocates for your local communities and school boards. Trustees represent the “public” in public education.
There may be challenges ahead over the next four years, but I know that as a strong and unwavering collective force, we can continue to be an influential voice in the shaping of our public education system and together build on our common objective to ensure the success and well-being of all students.
I look forward to working with all of you and wish you a productive and inspiring term.
Congratulations!
Cathy Abraham
President
