Toronto, October 14, 2011 – The Ontario Public School Boards’ Association appreciates the commitment of all candidates who recently ran for election to Ontario’s parliament. We congratulate our new and returning MPPs and extend our thanks to those who have served and will not be returning to office. OPSBA looks forward to a cooperative working relationship with the Provincial government. When it comes to sound decision-making in the complex environment of education, whether it touches on policy, finance, instruction or the values of a civil society, each educational partner takes on a unique and crucial role.

Our public school board members welcome the challenge of continuing to strengthen a school system that offers Ontario’s children an education that is the envy of the world. Our goal is to keep up the momentum and build on the gains we have made in the areas of children and youth mental health and Full Day Kindergarten. We are confident that, where the interests of students are concerned, we will find we share goals with all MPPs and that we will develop a genuine partnership with the newly elected government, a partnership that is marked by cooperation, collaboration and respect,” said Catherine Fife, President of OPSBA.
