AODA Update – 2017 Requirements

New accessibility requirements come into effect on January 1, 2017. Here is what school boards and school authorities need to do:

1 – 49 Employees

50+ Employees

Make new or redeveloped public spaces accessible. This includes:

  • recreational trails and beach access routes
  • outdoor public use eating areas
  • outdoor play spaces
  • public outdoor paths of travel
  • parking lots
  • service counters
  • fixed waiting lines
  • waiting areas with fixed seating

School boards will have to submit accessibility compliance reports once again in 2017. The report will include questions related to compliance with all accessibility requirements currently in effect.
