Waking Up Ojibwe

Anishinaabemowin, the language of the Anishinaabe people, connects the Anishinaabe community to their ancestors and ways of knowing and being. With fewer and fewer speakers in local communities, the Rainy River DSB is working together with Seven Generations Education Institute, SayITFirst, and its ten local First Nation communities to help awaken the language through the Anishinaabemodaa Initiative.

Ojibwe Language Strategy

Rainy River DSB partnered with Seven Generations Education Institute, SayITFirst, and the 10 local First Nations communities to develop the Anishinaabemodaa Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to promote Anishinaabemowin to communities, families, teachers, students, and to help put Anishinaabemowin back into the homes of the Anishinaabe people.
